Instrument performance monitoring

SAPHIR

  • Performances: Noise, gain, and sensitivity performance monitoring

TEC (Technical Expertise Centre) monitors for 150 SAPHIR parameters, about 100 alarms and about 20 types of monthly trend curves.

All parametres are very constant; there is only a variation at the beginning of life due to normal warm-up and vacuum stabilization.

    • HKTM: BNR tension, heating power, EM and RFU temperature, probe temperatures [EM, plate, scan], primary currents
    • IA and IB currents
    • gains, gain changes
    • Optical coder and parity problems
    • reboot instrument
    • CRC errors, on board counter, cycle number, time increments, TM holes, corrupted TM packets
    • mode switches, direction flip
    • pixel saturation
    • Scan system technical characteristics, related to the cold source/Earth pointing
    • DC, hot and cold source, IFP, LO, OBCT, Scan temperatures monitoring

  • Quality
    • On L1: % of invalid, min, max TB

SCARAB

  • Performances: Noise, gain, sensitivity, darkness level, TBBREF (reference cold body), TCALM performance monitoring

For all SCARAB graphs, the first point on the left is the beginning of life and the last point on the right is the last calibration measurement in August 2016.
